Broadband Frequently Asked Questions

Back to Top What is Broadband?

Broadband is an 'always on' Internet connection, up to ten times faster than dial up Internet, which means no more waiting for websites to download and a much more exciting and enjoyable Internet experience.

It allows you to use your home phone at the same time. Broadband is charged at a fixed monthly rate so you can go online as often as you like with the peace of mind of knowing exactly how much your bill will be.

How do I check if my telephone line can receive broadband?

Perlico Home Broadband is available nationwide. Before ordering the service, you need to check that your line is capable of being Broadband enabled. This can be done here

What are the benefits of Perlico home broadband?

One of the main complaints about dial-up Internet is the download times - sometimes it can take hours to download software updates or music files. This is because dial up Internet uses a 'narrowband' connection through an analogue modem that has a maximum speed of 56Kilo/bits per second.

Perlico Home Broadband offers you the chance to surf the web at speeds up to forty times faster than the dial-up. This makes it perfect for downloading software, security updates, music and films, sending large email attachments or simply surfing the Internet without having to wait an age for pages to download. Also, with Perlico Home Broadband, you can make telephone calls and access the Internet, both at the same time.

Can I upgrade from dial-up to broadband?

To upgrade from Dial up to Broadband, the first thing you need to do is make sure your line is compatible with Broadband. To find out where Broadband is available, and if it's available in your area please click here and enter your phone number.

If your line is compatible for Broadband you can apply for the Perlico Home Broadband online
